As mentioned in our post about the Adroit Prizes, Submittable is an online submissions manager used by a multitude of literary magazines and writing contests, including the Adroit Journal, CICADA Magazine, and Canvas Literary Journal. All it takes to create an account is a valid email address and password. The user page of Submittable has a clean and easy-to-use design, including tabs to monitor your active submissions, organize your accepted and declined works, and withdraw a submission if need be.
NB: Submittable is a secure website, but you should still ask your parents for permission if you are underage.
If you don’t already have an account, you must first find an organization that is accepting work. To submit, the publication’s website will generally have a submissions page that links to Submittable. From there, you pick what category you are submitting to and upload your work. You usually have to include your name with a third-person bio, and sometimes there are statistical questions to answer as well. (Example: Where did you hear about our magazine?)
Submittable also sponsors a site called Submishmash, which connects Submittable users with publications that are accepting work. You can browse by genre and type of magazine, and sign up to receive notifications. You can sign in to Submishmash using your Submittable login information.
